Thieves® Household Cleaner: A Healthier Choice

Did you know that many common cleaners on the market today contain harsh chemicals that are HARMFUL to your health? A quick look at the label and reading the warning label will confirm what I’m saying here. These chemicals many times are EDC’s (endocrine disrupting chemicals) which have been shown to affect our hormones, thyroid regulation, reproductive systems, and many other essential functions of our bodies. And yet, companies knowingly add these chemicals to their products, and we as consumers buy them and use them around our home and children. WHEN IS IT TIME TO CHANGE? … NOW!

Toss all your TOXIC chemical-laden cleaners and come on over to the healthy CLEAN and GREEN side!

DROP OF INSPIRATION Podcast
Ep27: Your Healthy Home and Thieves® Cleaner

Your home is your refuge, and we know how hard you work to make sure it is a welcoming, safe place. On this episode of Drop of Inspiration, we’re speaking with Young Living training and education manager for North America, Haley Jensen. She gives us the scoop on why we should make the switch to naturally derived cleaners such as Young Living Thieves® cleaner, how to make cleaning easier, and a few of her favorite DIY natural household cleaners—including a way to use essential oils for toilet bowls that you won’t want to be without.

Thieves® Household Cleaner, powered by Young Living’s Thieves® essential oil, is a must for every home! You’ll love using our Young Living Thieves® cleaner as an all-purpose solution to everyday spills and so much more. It’s the perfect alternative to ALL your home cleaning products. You can use Thieves® Household Cleaner on your countertops, carpet, windows, toilet, shower, sink, and even as a spot treatment for laundry. This product does it all! It is a highly-concentrated formula, which means you get a LOT of use out of a small bottle of product. Add a capful or two to a spray bottle, and add desired amount of water to dilute the Household Cleaner. Different dilution ratios are located on the bottle to help guide your cleaning. It can and will replace ALL other cleaning products in your home while also saving you $$$$$!

• Thieves® Household Cleaner is formulated with naturally derived ingredients. No harsh chemicals means there’s no harsh chemical smell!

• Contains the powerful oils that combine to create our signature Thieves® Blend- Lemon, Rosemary, Eucalyptus Radiata, Clove, and Cinnamon Bark essential oils.

• Thieves® Household Cleaner lets you harness the power and incredible spicy-sweet scent of Thieves® essential oil blend in your home cleaning.

Thieves® Household Cleaner not only contains Thieves® essential oil, but also added Lemon essential oil. It smells amaaazziing and I always get compliments on how wonderful my house smells after using it!

This all-purpose cleaner can be used on any surface in your home for dusting, spot cleaning, scrubbing, or any other cleaning need. Wherever you use it, you’ll feel good knowing it’s safe to use around everyone in your family, including children and pets. Spot test in an inconspicuous area before applying this product to woods, plastics, fabrics, and granite. If staining or damage occurs, discontinue use on the material.

Here’s how I use it:

One capful = 1.5 tsp, 1/2 Tbsp or .5 oz’s

-I use a heavily diluted mixture (1 capful to 2–3 cups of water) in a spray bottle for an all-purpose cleaner on my counter tops, windows, spills, heavy stains, toilet scrubbing, showers/tubs and tile grout. Costs approximately $.79 a bottle!!!

-A medium diluted mixture (1/2 capful of cleaner to 1 cup water) in a spray bottle to spot treat laundry, carpet, or spills that I missed that have dried.

-A heavy duty cleaner (1 capful to 1 cup) for a heavy degreaser

-For tough jobs add enough THC to baking soda to form a thick paste (make up when needed and use quickly) for a naturally derived scrubbing solution.

DILUTION GUIDELINES for Thieves® Household Cleaner

The following are general guidelines. Don’t get hung up on details! The proportions don’t have to be exact. I use more or less as I feel the need.

LIGHT DEGREASING (50 to 1)=  50 to 1 means 50 parts water and 1 part Thieves® Cleaner

HEAVY DUTY DEGREASING (15 to 1)= 1 capful cleaner to 1 cup water

All-purpose cleaner: 1 capful to 2-3 cups of water

Carpet: 1 capful cleaner to 6.25 cups water

Fabrics, Carpet spotting: 1 capful cleaner to 2 cups water

Floors: 1 capful cleaner to 6.25 cups water

Glass: 1 capful cleaner to 5 quarts water

Hand Cleaner (super strength): (1 to 1) 1/2 cup cleaner to 1/2 cup water

Pots & Pans: 1 capful cleaner to 3+ cups water

Walls: 1 capful cleaner to a little less than 2 cups water

Thieves® Cleaning Paste
Use this paste for grout in your shower, bathtub, sinks and tiles.

Directions:
Mix around a 1/3 cup Thieves® Automatic Dishwasher Powder with 1 capful of Thieves® Household Cleaner and mix until it forms into a paste. If the powder is still dry, add more Thieves® Household Cleaner.

Tip: Use the paste quickly after you make it because it will start to harden up! If your paste does start to harden while you are cleaning, try cleaning with a damp rag.

Let the paste sit for a few minutes and then clean! Using a damp rag helps.

I was just cleaning my kitchen glass door, partition and dining table with a 1:30 diluted Thieves® cleaner solution this morning.

And a visitor came by and the first thing she commented was, wow, what was that nice scent? She couldn’t believe it when I told her I was just done cleaning up 🙂

-Heather

2. cap full in washing machine
3. used straight on my hands to remove paint
4. I’ve scrubbed poison ivy blisters with it to remove the poison ivy oils from my skin

It works very well with everything I’ve mentioned.

Diana
I use the Thieves® spray to get rid of any room odors and I just recently used the Thieves® Household Cleaner to remove oily stains from a dress that had been washed several times and the stains were still there. I used the cleaner neat on a cloth and rubbed the stains with the cloth. I was amazed how clean the dress came out. Not a stain to be seen.

Thieves® Household Cleaner Removes Rust
The Thieves® Household Cleaner is amazing stuff! I am repainting the house on the inside – ceilings, woodwork and walls. That means taking the doors off the hinges. These doors have not been taken off the hinges since the house was built 38 years ago, so the pins are dry and rusty. When I wanted to hang the doors again I put some Thieves® Household Cleaner on one of those green Scotch Pads and ran it over the hinge pin. The pins cleaned up nicely.

A few days later I moved a file cabinet. Sometime I had used too much water in mopping and got the floor wet under the file cabinet. There was quite a bit of rust on the floor. I took the Thieves® Household Cleaner on the Scotch Pad and the rust just dissolved immediately with hardly any scrubbing at all!
Don’t hesitate to try this cleaner on anything!

— Jo Ann
Whenever I change my bed sheets, I spray Thieves® Household Cleaner on my mattress and between the mattress and box spring, then on my just washed mattress pad before putting on clean sheets. I also spray my pillows before putting on the pillow sheets. No unwanted company in my bed!!

I have used with great success Thieves® Household Cleaner on the paneling in a finished room in my basement that does not have a lot of ventilation. Therefore, mold is a problem, especially more so because of the wet summer we had this past year in NJ. I also diffused Purification while I was cleaning the paneling.

Thieves® Household cleaner on Roach Stains (Palmetto Bugs)
I just have to share my thrill over success removing some TENACIOUS stains. When I moved to Florida 2 years ago, not long after I started getting some laundry with these big rust looking smears. For a while I thought it was the older laundromat machines, somehow. Till I finally figured it out … leaving laundry in the basket for 2 weeks whatever they liked to crawl in and get cozy, leaving the most difficult stains I’ve ever dealt with. Well, I had a favorite skirt in the rag basket for months and pulled it out and tried one more time with Thieves® at 1:40 dillution. One spray soaked just a few minutes and it is gone!!!!!I was already convinced to buy it from the testimonials about carpet cleaning. (PS, I have my own washer/drier now, I was spending enough on laundromats to pay it off in two years).

— Margarete
I’ve used Thieves® Household Cleaner on same things others already have mentioned and on more. I make thrifty use of my bucket full of thieves® solution:
In a gallon bucket (m/l) of warm water goes a cap full of Thieves® Household cleaner.

I then plan what to all “detox” with it. I dip a rag in and first do counter tops and other surfaces like the refrigerator etc. But what I don’t do is re-inserting the rag in the bucket. I rinse that in the sink and then get back in the Thieves® solution or even use a fresh rag. (Old t-shirts cut in small rags go a long way)

Next I might do bathrooms, always changing either rag or paper towel and NOT insert the dirty ones back into the Thieves®.

While I’m at it, I might give the leaves of the rubber tree a quick “dusting”. Wash off the outdoor furniture and when I’m just about done I might change the catbox, hose it out and then pour the rest of the Thieves® water in and let it stand for 10 minutes or more before I refill the litter.

Yes, I also do floors with Thieves® HC, but for that I use a different bucket and a mop.

— Diana
In addition to the usual things, I use it in a spray bottle to clean my massage table between clients, the office bathroom, to clean my diffuser and the glass nebulae, and just today to kill the mold that I smelled growing on my balcony after all the rain we’ve been having!
Change your energy, change your life!

— Margaret
Thieves® Household Cleaner Removes Grease From Cement
I also use Thieves® Household Cleaner to remove the grease spots from the cement floor in my husbands shop. I spray a mixture of 2 oz Thieves® to 14 oz. water, if the stain is too tough I put Thieves® Household Cleaner on straight….just be prepared to clean to the remainder of the floor as the clean spot will stand out, lol.

— Julie
Thieves® Household Cleaner For Garden Pests
I can’t tell you the dilution I used. I just drop a capful or two (sometimes I don’t even measure) into the spray bottle and add water. My husband is the perfectionist/obsessive compulsive one, and he measures everything out precisely. I believe it was considerably stronger than the recommended 100:1 solution. I have not had any caterpillars or aphids since applying it once. I did also spray my lemon tree, no
problems on that as far as burning. My tomatoes were still pretty young, too, so that might have been why it was a little too strong.

Last year, I mixed cayenne pepper and peppermint in a spray bottle. It worked pretty well, but the undissolved cayenne clogged the sprayer, and I could never get it completely clean again. The year before, I tried just the peppermint and water, and that worked OK, but I was worn out after spraying my large garden from all the shaking I had to do to re-mix the peppermint and water! The Thieves® Household Cleaner stays blended, doesn’t clog, and works. Just have to get the right mixture.

— Carol
Thieves® Household Cleaner and Carpet
I used Thieves® Household Cleaner the last two times I did my carpet! It is fantastic! Cleans better than the commercial shampoo and was cheaper too! I used 1/4 cup for two gallons of water. It leaves your house smelling wonderful! And you know you have killed all those germs!

— Deb
Thieves® Household Cleaner For Mold On Siding
Every fall, we get mold growing on the siding of our house, so last October, I cleaned a 4 ft. X 4 ft. area with Thieves® Household Cleaner. I sprayed it on, scrubbed it with a brush, waited five minutes, and sprayed it down with the hose. I showed my husband how clean it was, but he still chose to clean the rest of the side of the house with bleach. This October, I looked at that side of the house. Again, the seasonal mold is all over the siding…except for the 4 ft. X 4 ft. area I cleaned with Thieves® last year!

Thieves® Household Cleaner & Wallpaper Removal
Just had to send a quick little note to toot my horn about Thieves® Household Cleaner. About a week ago I decided to remove some wallpaper from a spare bedroom. So I got my Diff out (of course it is a terrible chemical). Anyway started using that, which I might add ate up the wallboard along with my body because of the chemicals. After toiling trying to get the paper off, I decided this is not working.

I then decided to jump in my car and run to the Hardware Store to get a steamer. After bringing that home, I thought this will work, no chemical’s for me. Well that didn’t work much better than the Diff (I got my carpeting all wet). Next morning I got up and returned the steamer. On my way home, I was thinking what in the world will I use.

(IDEA) I thought if Thieves® Household Cleaner can clean my oven, why can’t it take off wallpaper. Well let me tell you it is AWESOME!

I first removed the outer layer of the wallpaper, I mixed about 1/4 cup of Thieves® Household Cleaner in about 2 1/2 cups of warm water and prayed the paper part of the wallpaper, it came off in sheets, plus it cleaned my woodwork on the way down, plus getting on the carpeting, there was nothing hurting that, except to smell the wonderful smell of Thieves® cleaner.

Things I’m doing with the Thieves® Household Cleaner
1.Just a small amount added to washing up water makes a great cleaner for silverware – comes out sparkling (I can now throw away that particular silver cleaner).
2. How do you use it in your bathroom hand cleanser dispenser? Three quarters fill your dispenser with olive oil and add a slurp of Thieves® cleaner and you have a lovely fresh smelling, effective and moisturizing hand cleaner.
3. I’m using it in my dishwasher (about half a teaspoon for a normal wash – more if I have pots and pans).
4. Dishwashing (by hand)
5. Dilute in a spray bottle – use in toilets, carpet stains (fantastic!), walls, floors AND…..we have one of those cooktops with an open grill, a bit like a BBQ. I put very hot water into the sink, added a dollop of Thieves® Household Cleaner and soaked the grill plates (very grimy and greasy) for about 15 minutes, then pulled them out and anything still on them just slid off with a wipe.
