Come oil with me… A weekly challenge

Come Oil with Me is an invitation to join me in a weekly challenge. We’ll learn all about one Young Living oil or blend, one week at a time.   Essential oils are often referred to as “natures living energy”. They are called that for good reason because they can help support and maintain the body, mind and spirit in awesome and amazing ways. At the 2016 Live Your Passion Grand Convention, Gary Young, the founder of Young Living, gave each of us a challenge… to focus on one single oil or blend a week. To learn all about it, to research it, to study it, and most importantly to USE it and experience its benefits first hand… each and every day, for an entire week. And do that for a year. Imagine what that means. Potentially it means that at the end of one year, we would have first … Continue reading

Choosing the Best Carrier Oils for Your Skin Type

Choosing the Best Carrier Oil 2

It’s fun to create our own creams and lotions, and doing so is a wonderful way to individualize them for our own skin type and personal use, or to make gifts for others, while avoiding all the harmful chemicals found in manufactured items. Your skin is like a great big sponge and absorbs EVERYTHING that you put on it, or emmerse yourself in. Give some thought into choosing the best carrier oils for your skin type for best results and absorption. When mixing a carrier oil with essential oils meant for topical use, depending on what you’re using it for, you’ll want to tailor it to your individual skin type. I love making my own products as it allows me to know exactly what’s going onto, and into my body. During the winter, when skin can get dry, making my own body butter makes a huge diffence in my skin … Continue reading

What’s Lurking In Your Cabinets?

Have you ever wondered what’s lurking in your cabinets as you look at the stash of cleaning products residing there? Unfortunately most household cabinets are full of harmful, toxic cleaners and many people, if not most, are unaware of the dangers they pose to our health. Our home is our sanctuary- it should be a place of rest, relaxation and wellness… a safe haven for our loved ones (including our beloved pets), and friends, not a place of environmental pollution. As we strive to create a safe, healthy environment in our home it’s important to learn what hidden dangers may be lurking there and then work to systematically remove them. Surprisingly government regulations don’t require manufacturers to list all ingredients, just those that are combustible, corrosive, poisonous, etc. Most household cleaning products contain toxic chemicals like ammonia, formaldehyde, phthalates, benzalkonium chlorid, and 2-butoxyethanol, just to name a few. Among the … Continue reading

Benefits of a Health Journal!

The benefits of creating a health journal or diary to record health related issues over time goes beyond the obvious… tracking what you used on whom, when you used it, including what worked and what didn’t! It’s a wonderful way to clarify your thoughts and experiences, and in the future will provide you with a window to the past and provide you with a great reference of past experiences to refer to. Although I store tons of information and documents on my computer, which makes it great for researching, it is NOT always convenient to have to use my computer to look up information, especially in the middle of the night. Having all this information on “my” computer or phone apps also prevents my family members from finding information I’ve saved. Having a health journal makes it quick and easy for everyone in the family to look up information I’ve … Continue reading

SAFETY ISSUES FAQ’s- Topical & Oral Applications of Essential Oils?

There are many reasons why I believe that Young Living’s essential oils are THE BEST oils on the market and try to document and explain these reasons whenever possible. I’ve added a must read article for those wanting to educate themselves and expand their knowledge base on the safe use of our oils and just updated my page ADULTERATED OILS & THEIR DANGERS with an article that was published in the July 2013 edition of Aromatopia (A Japanese journal) about the safety of neat, topical, and oral administration of essential oils entitled TOPICAL AND ORAL ADMINISTRATION OF ESSENTIAL OILS—SAFETY ISSUES by Johnson S, Boren K. Abstract. Multiple aromatherapy models exist, both advocating and discouraging neat topical and oral administration of essential oils. Recently, attention to these safety issues has expanded as a growing number of health care professionals and individuals adopt aromatherapy as an adjunct therapeutic practice. The safety issues … Continue reading
