12 Days of Christmas DIY Water Crystal Gel Diffusers

Making DIY Water Crystal Gel Diffusers is the focus of day 6 of our 12 Days of Christmas DIY Recipes. Another oh so easy recipe and a great gift idea that you can make look very elegant, or sweet and simple… it’s totally up to you and once again can be very inexpensive to do! Once I started using Young Living’s essential oils I learned about the importance of removing as many chemicals as possible from our environment because of all the detrimental effects they have on our body, and that they react negatively with essential oils. It’s been an on-going process but I’m making slow, steady progress. Last year I got rid of all the plastic storage containers for storing leftovers and went to glass. You can learn more about that here. I no longer use chemical laden fragrant candles either. I now diffuse essential oils by either using … Continue reading

12 Days of Christmas DIY Body Wash

This is day four of the 12 Days of Christmas DIY Recipes series, showing you how to use your essential oils and make your own essential oil infused gifts. Today’s project will show you how quick and easy it is to make your own body wash. Once you make your first bottle of essential oil infused DIY Body Wash you’ll wonder why you didn’t attempt this sooner. It really isn’t rocket science and is very simple to do. Most of the ingredients can be found at your local grocery or health food store, and it’s soooo much cheaper and healthier to make your own, than the chemical-laden stuff you find on store shelves. You see, what you put ON your body is just as important as what you put in your body. Your skin is the body’s largest organ and it absorbs whatever you put on it. This recipe helps … Continue reading

12 Days of Christmas DIY Foaming Hand Soap

This is day two of the 12 Days of Christmas DIY Recipes series, showing you how to use your essential oils and make your own essential oil infused gifts. Today’s project is going to show you how incredibly easy it is to make your own essential oil infused foaming bath soap, and it’s even easier than making yesterday’s bath salts. Before we begin there are a couple of things to keep in mind… 1- It’s important to use a foaming soap dispenser and NOT just a regular soap dispenser. These types of dispensers are intended to make the soap “foamy” otherwise it comes out watery. Castile soap has a watery consistency and is not thick like what your used to when buying hand soap from the store. It’s all natural and has no artificial thickeners in it which are bad for your body. 2- While you can use regular castile … Continue reading

Incorporating Essential Oils Into Recipes

I love incorporating essential oils into recipes. It’s a lot easier than some might think and only takes a second. Adding essential oils to a recipe has a two fold purpose… not only does it enhance the taste of the dish but more importantly it provides all the benefits of that particular essential oil and assures me that everyone eating the dish receives those benefits.  A great way to share with your family members, especially children, and you don’t even have to tell them. It really is as simple as adding an oil of the same ingredient. Let me explain… last night I made salsa using fresh produce from my garden, to go with the Taco Salad we were having for dinner. The salsa recipe calls for lime juice, sooooo…. I also add a drop or two of Lime (Vitality) essential oil. A couple words of caution here though… I almost never add … Continue reading

No wonder they were considered more valuable than gold in ancient times. I realize that some of you are just beginning your journey, others of you began awhile ago and may have to grab the kit from the shelf or drawer you put them in, and dust off the cobwebs. Others of you haven’t even started yet. It doesn’t matter, its okay… this information is pertinent to anyone on … Continue reading

Dirty Little Secrets of the Fragrance Industry

The fragrance industry doesn’t want you to know about their dirty little secrets! They don’t want you to know that your favorite scented candles, and personal care and household products… perfume, shampoo, lotion, shower gel, deodorant, dryer sheets, fabric softener, air fresheners, etc. contain a complex concoction of toxic synthetic chemicals, could be the root cause of some of your health issues. They take chemicals from their stockpile of chemical ingredients, often made from petrochemicals, to produce some of the best smelling, allergy-inducing, hormone disrupting, headache and cancer causing fragrances in the world. What they don’t tell you about is that many of these chemicals present potential health risks and build up in people’s bodies and pollute it. According to Environmental Working Group (EWG)… “When you see “fragrance” on a personal care product’s label, read it as “hidden chemicals.” A major loophole in FDA’s federal law lets manufacturers of products … Continue reading
