Essential oils may be the answer you’ve been looking for all those New Years resolutions just waiting for implementation. Many people are inspired each January 1st to make New Years resolutions. You may be one of those people. Sadly though, even with the best of intentions one can quickly succumb to old habits and old ways of thinking. Fortunately though, essential oils may help you experience success this time around.
Many people, including myself, find that daily use of essential oils help to raise their energy levels and frequency, and many report experiencing a greater spiritual awakening when using our essential oils. I can literally tell the difference in my energy level if I don’t “oil up” each day.
The sense of smell is the only one of the five senses directly linked to the limbic lobe of the brain, which is the emotional control center. When inhaled, essential oils take an intricate path through the olfactory system and generate impulses which are then transported to the limbic region of our brain, passing through the pituitary and pineal glands as well as to our amygdala, which is the location of the brain where emotions are stored and released. All of these areas can be stimulated with just one breath of pure unadulterated essential oil.
The preferred method for experiencing spiritual, physical and emotional harmony with essential oils is through inhalation. For direct inhalation or meditation, put several drops into the palms of your hands, cup over your mouth and nose, and breathe deeply as if you are taking the breath and directing it up and over your brain. I prefer to use essential oils as my perfume or cologne, and find them a healthy alternative to chemical laden synthetic fragrances. Try diffusing and/or inhaling one of the following essential oils for 5-10 minutes everyday to help reprogram old ways of thinking and break some of the bad habits that may have become ingrained in your mind. While practicing this inhalation therapy visualize the oils entering the brain and writing new messages in your brain. Speak out loud, using positive words, the new message(s) that you want delivered so that your mind and body actually hears the message too. It can be a powerful tool in developing new habits and new ways of thinking.
