FAQ’s- Operating My Wholesale Membership as a Business
1. With a Wholesale Membership am I required to operate as a business?
No, but it is always an option and you can choose to do so at any point.
Many people, like myself, had no intention initially of operating their membership as a business when joining Young Living. I used my wholesale membership to order my oils at wholesale for years before deciding to use my wholesale membership to build my own home based business to supplement our income going into retirement.
2. What is required to operate my Wholesale Membership as a business?
Literally all that is required to operate your membership as a business is for you to be a Wholesale Member, and to get paid all the bonuses and commissions you have to place a monthly order of 100PV ( (appx. $100) of product each month!
It is highly recommended though that you purchase one of the Premium Starter Kits that contains the 11 oils and a diffuser. These range from $160 to $260 depending on the diffuser you choose. You should begin using them first and experience their benefits for yourself before attempting to share with others. Once you do, it’s only natural to want to share your excitement with family and friends. We never SELL the oils… the oils sell themselves.
3. Do I need to carry inventory?
No, in fact, most of us don’t. Young Living makes it easy for everyone to conveniently purchase oils from their own home either as a wholesale member or retail customer.
4. Do I need to collect sales tax?
If you don’t stock inventory and sale from that inventory to others you won’t have to worry about paying sales tax. Everyone will be placing their own orders directly through Young Living, either as a wholesale member or retail customer, and Young Living takes care of the rest.
You will have to report any income earned from bonuses and commissions on your Federal and State Tax Returns though.
5. Are there any sales quotas to meet?
No, absolutely not! You simply use the oils and products, and SHARE THE LOVE as we’ve come to call it, encouraging others to begin using the products and experience them firsthand. You earn commission and/or bonuses for every person that joins Young Living under you as a wholesale member, and will earn 24% off your retail customer’s purchases. You are never required to meet sales quotas.
GOOD TO KNOW- Young Living’s ratings are top notch.
Young Living has an “A+” rating on the Better Business Bureau
As the BBB website states:
A BBB Accredited Business since 7/15/2015
“BBB has determined that Young Living Essential Oils, LC meets BBB accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB Accredited Businesses pay a fee for accreditation review/monitoring and for support of BBB services to the public.”
While this does not mean that problems never occur, it does give a decent indication that Young Living has made every effort to resolve the complaints and issues that arise in a timely manner. That’s top-notch customer service – and that’s Young Living.
Young Living is also an accepted member of the Direct Sales Association (DSA)
The DSA website says this:
“One of the hallmarks of our Code of Ethics is that it is enforced by an independent administrator empowered by DSA members to resolve issues. The Code Administrator can impose a variety of remedies in the event of a Code violation including calling for refunds, ordering a mandatory repurchase of inventory or other measures as needed. When media reports or other sources make the Administrator aware of allegations that could be Code violations, the Administrator may conduct an investigation into the practices of our members and suggest how issues may be resolved.”
Young Living has agreed to abide by these standards and the DSA code of ethics.
