This is day two of the 12 Days of Christmas DIY Recipes series, showing you how to use your essential oils and make your own essential oil infused gifts. Today’s project is going to show you how incredibly easy it is to make your own essential oil infused foaming bath soap, and it’s even easier than making yesterday’s bath salts.
Before we begin there are a couple of things to keep in mind…
-
1- It’s important to use a foaming soap dispenser and NOT just a regular soap dispenser. These types of dispensers are intended to make the soap “foamy” otherwise it comes out watery. Castile soap has a watery consistency and is not thick like what your used to when buying hand soap from the store. It’s all natural and has no artificial thickeners in it which are bad for your body.
2- While you can use regular castile soap I prefer to use Acure Organics Argan Oil Castile Soap (Fragrance Free). Regular castile soap can be a bit drying to skin. I love that they’ve added Argan oil to this soap, as it is very moisturizing to the skin. Some refer to it as liquid gold for the skin.
DIRECTIONS
Use empty foaming Hand Soap Dispenser (reuse an old one or purchase a new one)
Add 1/3 cup unscented Liquid Castile Soap
Add a few drops of Vit E oil (optional- it’s moisturizing)
Add 10-12 drops of your favorite Young Living Essential Oil (I prefer Purification, Lavender or Tea Tree (Mel. alt) but feel free to choose another)
Slowly fill with distilled or filtered water
Combine castile soap, Vit E oil and your choice of essential oil; then slowly fill soap dispenser the rest of the way with water. Slowly tip back and forth a couple of times to thoroughly mix. Presto… you’re done!
Now, to give as a gift this holiday season add a gift tag, and perhaps some ribbon too. Place in a holiday gift bag or basket, with tissue paper. You might also want to throw in some information about the essential oil, or even perhaps a bottle of the essential oil too with the recipe, so they can continue to refill their foaming hand soap bottle.
It’s hard for me to decide if I prefer Young Livings THIEVES Foaming Hand Soap or my own DIY version which allows me to change the oil(s) and the scent. I encourage you to try both and then decide for yourself.
Today’s recipe is one more idea for making gifts this holiday season, and shows you how easy it is to use essential oils. And don’t you just love that it allows you to rid your household of another chemical laden product around your house. I know I do. It may seem small and in significant but every little step we take in that direction adds up over time and leads us towards a healthier lifestyle.
Blessings on your journey… and happy OILING!
