Create your own holiday cheer and memories and splurge a little with these two hot holiday beverage favorites for our final and last post in the 12 Days of Christmas DIY series. They too make good holiday gifts.
Enjoy a cup of holiday spirit while sipping on some homemade Hot Buttered Rum while putting together toys and wrapping gifts this Christmas Eve.
DIY HOT BUTTERED RUM
1 cup butter
2 cups light brown sugar
2 teaspoons Nutmeg Vitality essential oil
2 teaspoons Cinnamon Vitality bark essential oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Apple cider- hot
1 shot of good quality rum OR… use 2 tsp rum extract for alcohol-free version
Use 1 heaping Tbsp mixture to 1 shot rum per 8 oz of hot apple cider.
DIY RICH HOT COCOA MIX
After stashing your perfectly wrapped gifts under the tree prepare a cup or two of homemade rich hot cocoa to put a finishing touch on the evening. Between the hot buttered rum and the warm milk you’ll hopefully be off to dreamland in no time.
6 squares (1 ounce each) Ghiradelli Semi-sweet Baking Chocolate
3/4 cup Hersheys Special Dark cocoa
3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
2-3 drops Cinnamon Bark Vitality essential oil
Combine semisweet baking chocolate, dark baking cocoa and confectioners sugar in food processor and process until crumbly. Add 2-3 drops cinnamon bark essential oil and continue processing until well mixed.
To use, add 2 tablespoons mix to 3/4 cup hot milk.
