Bone Broth- A Powerful Healing Tool

Bone broth, a highly beneficial, nutrient dense superfood has been used since ancient times and is considered to be one of the most remarkable foods on the planet that is made from simmering animal or fish bones. Its a powerful healing tool, often referred to as “the elixir of life.” Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, said over 2,000 years ago… “All disease begins in the gut.” Modern day science is finally coming around and confirming this ancient wisdom. Sadly, most people remain unaware of how incredibly beneficial bone broth is and miss out on the opportunity to transform their health and life. When you were sick as a child, did your mom ever make a pot of chicken soup and insist that you eat it, telling you that it would make you feel better? Have you ever wondered why? Homemade bone broth has amazing health benefits and can be … Continue reading

Homemade Ginger Ale with a KICK!

One of the best things that you can do is to for your health is to ditch all the sugar laden drinks and sodas, and replace them with healthier options like homemade ginger ale or lemonade. Most of the drinks on the market contain either high-fructose corn syrup, which means your drinking a product made from GMO’s which is a whole other subject in and of itself, or artificial sweeteners. Its getting harder and harder but I try to avoid GMO’s like the plague. In recent years studies have shown that sugar is more addictive as cocaine… yep that’s right, COCAINE. Dr. Mercola, an alternative medicine proponent and osteopathic physician, says it’s “one of the most addictive and harmful substances currently known”. If you’ve ever tried to get off sugar and had a hard time doing so, now you know why! And don’t think for one minute that consuming “diet” … Continue reading

Dangers of Synthetic Fragrances

Most people are totally unaware of the dangers that synthetic fragrances pose to our health or how many times we’re exposed to them on a daily basis. Chemical fragrance is really nothing more than a conglomeration of man-made chemicals, many of them very toxic and found to cause many health problems including cancer. Fragrance is found in all kinds of everyday products… scented candles, air fresheners (both plug-in and spray cans), hand sanitizers, laundry detergent, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, household cleaning products, personal care products to include shampoos, deodorant, body washes, and cosmetics. Even in your favorite perfumes and colognes. The list literally goes on and on. If a product has a fragrance chances are its from a toxic soup of chemicals. We are constantly exposed to them and they can be found literally everywhere- in our homes, cars, schools, office buildings, stores, malls, etc. In fact, it’s hard to … Continue reading

Feed Your Gut, Change Your Life

Our modern lifestyle and fast-paced culture is oftentimes at odds with living a healthy lifestyle. We’ve all heard the saying “You are what you eat!” right? Unfortunately, many of us have sacrificed our health on the alter of convenience because of our busy lifestyles and unhealthy eating habits. I have always preferred to find natural and holistic ways to support my health and wellness goals, however, for far too long I was undermining those efforts by making unhealthy food choices. Eating healthy is simple, it just isn’t easy sometimes. We have to unlearn poor eating habits and replace them with healthy ones by making healthy choices. When we do this we can begin to live life the way it was meant to be lived. Living a rich, vibrant, healthy life is within our reach when we begin to make healthy lifestyle changes. If you want to change your life then … Continue reading

Making Healthy Choices- Killer Sloppy Joe’s

Once you try this Killer Sloppy Joe’s with Portobella Mushrooms recipe I’m sure it’s going to become a family favorite just as it has mine. Loaded with fiber, this recipe also uses portobella mushrooms instead of the traditional hamburger bun which is really helpful for those looking for a healthier version of this age-old favorite, or for those looking for recipes to support their weight management goals. This entree is relatively quick and easy to make which is always a plus in my opinion, and has become one that I use frequently any time of year.   KILLER SLOPPY JOE’S WITH PORTOBELLA MUSHROOMS   INGREDIENTS   large garlic clove 1 white or yellow onion, diced extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) or beef broth 1 pound ground beef 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce (preferably organic) 1-2 tablespoon Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar (ACV) 1 packet Stevia Plus- for EACH Tbsp of ACV … Continue reading

In today’s toxic world, if you want to live life to its fullest then you need to be making healthy choices in many areas of your life. Some of the simplest ways to do this is to make sure that you are eating whole foods and drinking healthy beverages, ones that aren’t over-processed, denatured, full of sugar and loaded with toxic-chemicals or pesticides. When you supply your body with what it needs it will respond in positive ways. It really is very simple, it just isn’t necessarily easy. We’re all creatures of habit and most of us find it difficult to break old patterns especially ones that have been ingrained in us for many years, but it can be done. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you have trouble giving up sugar. Did you know that studies show that sugar is just as addictive as cocaine… yep, that’s right! … Continue reading

MAKING HEALTHY CHOICES… The Path Towards Health!

The path towards health includes eating real food along with getting plenty of exercise and are probably the two most important things that we can do for our physical and mental health. Sadly, for a lot people that’s not the norm. With our busy lifestyles its easy to let both of these slip towards the back of the priority list isn’t it? I know I struggle with it and bet most of you do too. For those wanting to begin making better, healthier choices for themselves and their family begin first by taking steps to educate yourself on the benefits of eating REAL food and getting plenty of exercise, along with learning about the dangers and risks involved of not doing so. It may be just the motivation you need to make any necessary changes needed. Eating highly processed foods which may contain harmful additives and chemicals, growth promoters and/or … Continue reading

Making Healthy Choices- DIY Electric Dishwasher Detergent

Yesterday I was inspired by my friend Leah, a fellow oiler and Heaven Scent Team Member, and after hearing of her success with her homemade DIY electric dishwasher powder I decided it was finally time for me make the switch from store bought dishwasher detergent to my own homemade version. I knew that I was almost out of Cascade so the timing was perfect. She informed me that she makes her own dishwasher detergent and said regarding Cascade… “I can’t tolerate it at all! When I went to use it at my mom’s it made me seriously nauseous. I stopped using it a couple of years ago and was using the melaleuca dishwasher liquid but it is very pricey!!” I told her that one would think that any residue would be rinsed away during the rinse cycle. She replied… “Nooooo…. the heat drying usually bakes it into the dish. Put … Continue reading

Winter BEAUTY Regime for Dry Skin

Winter weather can bring along with it dry, itchy, flaky skin due to harsh soaps, dry indoor air, low humidity, winter wind and cold-weather! Fortunately though, there are safe, natural everyday products found in many homes that one can use to help hydrate and soothe dry skin without using the commercial, chemical laden lotions and oils on the market. Soothing the itch and re-hydrating your skin by treating it with a winter beauty regime, once-a-week, is a lot easier and cheaper than you might think. During the winter I try to exfoliate and moisturize by using a homemade DIY oil based body scrub made up of organic extra virgin olive oil, epsom salts, plain white sugar and essential oils. I encourage you to give it a try, and I’m pretty confident that once you’ve tried this you too will develop this once a week routine during the long winter … Continue reading
