Taking the road less traveled

I began taking the road less traveled 23 years ago today, on Nov. 3rd, 1998! Nov. 3rd, 1998 was the beginning of our holistic health journey and began in our pediatricians office. That’s right! In our pediatricians office. And what an amazing journey its been! At first glance, one might think “What a strange place to begin that journey!” but you’d be wrong. You see, I had taken our 7 year old daughter (almost 8) to a Dr’s appointment. I don’t recall the reason for the visit but while there the doctor noticed her thyroid looked enlarged and ordered some tests. When the tests came back he informed me that she had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and wanted to put her on thyroid medication… for the rest of her life. He said it in a very matter-of-fact way and treated it like it was no big deal. In fact, he … Continue reading

Packing a Roadtrip Wellness Go-Bag

Before you hit the road this holiday season consider packing a wellness go-bag. It’s a great way to ensure that you can continue to use some of your favorite remedies, supplements, essential oils and go-to fixes while you’re on the road and away from home. You never know what might happen or what you might run into along the way. So whether you want to sooth your nerves, boost your immunity, ease digestion or be prepared for any unforeseen accidents, use some of the following tips to make up your own go-bag and fill it with some of your favorite items or products. Ones that you want to make sure you have on … Continue reading

With Every Crisis Comes Opportunity!

Life is filled with trials and tribulations. Both physical and spiritual… and oftentimes the two are intrinsically linked. No one escapes them. It’s just a natural part of life but a very important part. With every crisis comes opportunity. The opportunity for us to allow each crisis to open new doors, to step outside our comfort zone, to allow us to grow as we open ourselves up to learn the lesson each one is trying to teach us. From my experience its within these crisis’, these trials and tribulations, that we experience the most growth… but only if we let it. Have you ever been in the middle of a crisis and had the experience of something not sounding right or feeling right, and it stirred up an uneasiness within your spirit? Have you learned to listen to your gut, to the silent prompting in your spirit? This “gut feeling”, … Continue reading

I Chose the Path Less Followed

Sometimes life throws us a curve ball… something that we weren’t expecting. We rejoice when its something good or exciting and never complain when that happens, right? However… sometimes good things come to us disguised as something bad, or something to be avoided and can take us down a path that we would not have chosen willingly, and many times they can leave us wondering “Why is this happening?” Because of my life experiences, I can now look back on many of these times in my life and give thanks for them because of the positive changes they produced. There certainly is something to be said for hindsight… its just hard to keep all that in mind while in the midst of a storm. One of these “times” happened years ago when my daughter was just shy of her 8th birthday and is responsible for taking me down the path … Continue reading

Young Living, Urban Zen and Kent State in First-ever Nursing Program

Young Living, Urban Zen and Kent State in First-ever Nursing Program SALT LAKE CITY—October 25, 2010 Nurses have always played a critical role in helping others, but that help often comes at the expense of their own personal health and well-being. That was the primary message shared with 30 nursing students last month at Kent State’s College of Nursing. The students were the first to participate in a special curriculum of self-care for nurses, developed to help practitioners avoid being burned out in their demanding line of work. The curriculum is part of the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy (UZIT) program, which focuses on combining Eastern modalities and techniques (yoga therapy, essential oil therapy and Reiki) with Western medicine. Young Living partnered with Urban Zen to provide an Everyday Oils kit for each participant, and Young Living Gold Member Tracy Griffiths taught the students about the science behind, and benefits of, … Continue reading
