12 Days of Christmas DIY Body Wash

This is day four of the 12 Days of Christmas DIY Recipes series, showing you how to use your essential oils and make your own essential oil infused gifts. Today’s project will show you how quick and easy it is to make your own body wash. Once you make your first bottle of essential oil infused DIY Body Wash you’ll wonder why you didn’t attempt this sooner. It really isn’t rocket science and is very simple to do. Most of the ingredients can be found at your local grocery or health food store, and it’s soooo much cheaper and healthier too. You see, what you put ON your body is just as important as what you put in your body. Your skin is the body’s largest organ and it absorbs whatever you put on it. This recipe helps you ditch all those chemical laden body washes and gives you a healthier, essential oil infused version. No artificial ingredients, coloring’s or preservatives.

This would certainly make a great gift. Perhaps throw in a loofah for exfoliating too. You could make up a batch and give it along with the oils used to make it with the instructions on how to do it along with it. It’s a gift that keeps on giving.

12 days body wash dark

INSTRUCTIONS:

Fill 16 oz container appx. two thirds of the way with water
Add 1 tablespoon – Vitamin E Oil
Add 1 tablespoon – Vegetable Glycerin
Add your choice of Essential Oils (I used 10 drops of Abundance and 10 drops of Lavender)
Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup Dr. Bronners Liquid Castile Soap to fill container. (I prefer to use Castile Soap with Argon Oil)
Place lid on and gentle turn back and forth until well mixed.

Shake gently prior to using to mix ingredients.

If you’ve used body washes before be forewarned this body wash is not going to lather up like those store bought brands do although it will produce a little. It will leave you smelling and feeling squeaky clean, and oh so soft, and all while infusing your body with pure, essential oils and all their benefits!

A WORD OF CAUTION- References to the use of essential oils refers SOLELY to Young Living Essential Oils and products. The IMPORTANCE of using PURE, unadulterated essential oils cannot be stressed enough. You can learn more about this topic here! Because of Young Living’s SEED-TO-SEAL process I’m assured that I’m using premium-grade essential oils.

Additional Notes:
I like to reuse and repurpose whenever possible. I doubled this recipe and used on old 32oz container of liquid Castile Soap.

You can use regular Castile soap but some find it drying so I prefer to use Argan Oil Castile Soap by ACURE. Argan oil is very moisturizing and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth.

Vitamin E oil also helps to make the body wash moisturizing!

The addition of vegetable glycerin helps thicken this mixture. Want it a little thicker? Just add more vegetable glycerin!

I love the combination of Abundance and Lavender together, and love the rich earthy smell which makes this a good choice for both men and women. Lavender is extremely supportive of healthy skin. Remember have fun and experiment with various essential oils until you find the right oil, or combination of oils. And remember to keep finding new ways to use essential oils in your everyday life so you can reap as many of their benefits as possible.

Abundance Ingredients: Orange, Cinnamon, Frankincense, Patchouli, Myrrh, Spruce, Ginger, Clove

At Young Living, we encourage everyone to live healthy, chemical free lifestyles… ones that includes the use of our premium-grade essential oils. We like to call it living an “Oil Infused Lifestyle”.
